Hey, Joe!
Molly Flyyn, of Kingston, NY, writes, "My garage is full of crap that's no longer useful to me, but which seems a shame to throw away: tons of my kid's old action figures, lengths of chain link, bicycle parts...that sort of thing. Surely, there must be a lifecrack I can do with these things. Help me turn the useless into the useful!"
Molly, what a treasure trove your garage is! You've got all the raw materials for a really super mobile that any lifecracker would be proud to display in their stylish home! With a little inginuity, some duct tape, and a couple of cheap penlights, you could even go a step further and make a chandelier.

Say Goodbye to Office Depot
Why spend money on paper, when you're surrounded by the raw materials to make your own unique, eco-friendly paper? Every sheet of paper you rip out of a notebook represents 18 slow-growing trees being cut down in their prime, just so you have somewhere to write down a shopping list. What's the alternative? Belly button lint is just one of many overlooked sources of papermaking supplies that everyone has access to, free of charge. Start collecting that naval jam, now, and you'll be on your way to creating your own funky ream of paper in no time.

Sit, Ubu, Sit
So, your significant other has taken a runner, and left you with nothing but memories, that itchy rash, and a drawer full of sex toys that you can't bring yourself to use with another? Don't trash them - UPCYCLE. Dogs require a variety of chewing surfaces to keep their teeth clean and strong, and their breath fresh and minty. They also need lots of exercise. What better way to keep your pooch happy and healthy, AND make use of some old, seemingly useless equipment than a nice game of fetch on the beach?
Keep yer toesies dry !!!
The amount of rubber that ends up in landfills ever year, thanks to the rampant and irresponsible use of condoms, poses a major threat to the environment. Did you know it takes one condom approximately 75 million years to decompose? Which makes bigger, thicker rubber products even more of a threat. Don't throw away a perfectly good pair of galoshes. Duct tape is an upcycler's best friend: strong, water-proof, inexpensive, and really fashionable when applied with care!
